A private family memorial graveside will be held at a later date in Higgins Cemetery. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Carl was born January 9, 1928 in Farnsworth, Texas, to parents Carl Vincent Hurter and Maude Brown Hurter. He graduated from Perryton High School in 1945, received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas in 1951, and received his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago in 1969. Carl was a Certified Public Accountant. He retired in 1986 from Amoco Corporation as Manager of Data Processing in the Tulsa, Oklahoma, office. Carl was in the Airborne Infantry of the U.S. Army. He served for a year in Korea during the Korean War. Carl married Dorothy Sansing Hurter in 1950 in San Antonio, Texas. During their 72 years of marriage, they lived mostly in Houston, Chicago, Tulsa and on their farm near Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin. They moved to Mesa View Assisted Living in Canadian, Texas, in 2022, to be near family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Betty Hurter Glover; and a grandson, William Hurter. Besides his wife, survivors include his children, Stephen Hurter and wife Riana of Katy, Texas, and Beth Briant and husband George of Canadian, Texas; grandchildren, Brent Hurter and wife Laura of Spring, Texas, Clara Hurter of Austin, Texas, Beverly Stephenson and husband Bryan of Canadian, Texas, and David Witcher and wife Dusty of Higgins, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Hazel Aycock and Knox Aycock of Canadian.
