It is with sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved husband and father David Wedge. He passed away peacefully in Vancouver on the evening of July 24th, 2024, at St. Paul’s Hospital after a battle with illness.
David was predeceased by his parents Harold and Dora. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Catherine, his children Ryan, Logan and Naomi (Jeff) and his sister Annie and brothers Les and Mark.
David grew up around the Carcross and Tagish area learning to enjoy the outdoors with his parents and siblings. David started driving transport trucks and heavy equipment at a young age and worked for different companies including William Grant Trucking, Frontier Freightlines, Hawkshaw Transport, Golden Hill Ventures and AFD Fuels. He was known for being a safe and reliable driver.
Early on David enjoyed hunting and fishing, later he enjoyed watching softball in Whitehorse and Toronto Blue Jay baseball games. David’s greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren Jake, Kate and Sarah.
The family would like to thank the EMTs and nursing staff at Whitehorse General and St. Paul’s Hospital for their professional and compassionate care of David while he was sick.
There will be a viewing at Heritage North Funeral Home on Tuesday August 6. Close family is invited from 2:00 – 2:30 and the public is invited from 2:30 – 3:00 pm.
Services and a small dinner after will be held in Carcross on Saturday September 14, 2024. Time and location will be announced later.
