Jack “Paul” Martin

In Loving Memory ~
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Jack “Paul” Martin. He is survived by daughter Tanya, son Keith (Chelsea), grandson Landon, siblings Jennette (Larry), Rick (Kellie), Wayne (Val) and Lorraine as well as his nieces and nephews and extended family. Paul was born on June 27th, 1948 in New Westminster, BC to Jack Martin and Marie Therese Brissette. He spent his childhood residing in Telegraph Cove and Nimpkish and attended Kokish and Woss Lake schools. His family moved to Nanaimo when he was in Grade 12. He graduated from NDSS in 1966. As a young man he spent 6 months travelling the world with lifelong friend John Kollman. In 1970 he started working for Canfor/WFP. He worked there for 50 years both in Nimpkish and Woss. He married in 1977 and had his children in the late 70’s. The family resided in Nimpkish until 1983 and then Sayward where Paul resided until his passing. He was a true lover of nature and the quiet life. His passions were gardening, fishing, playing baseball in his younger years and watching the Toronto Blue Jays. He loved watching hockey, favouring the Montreal Canadiens. In his late 50’s he participated in the 23k Kusam Klimb in Sayward and each one after that up until 2019. He fell in love with the mountain and the event. He told everyone he knew and met about it and many joined him to participate. Paul loved making meaningful connections and made a positive impact with those that he encountered in his day to day life. He will be missed immensely by family and friends. Please join us to celebrate his life at the Sayward Heritage Hall on July 8th, 2023 at 2:30pm. Please email [email protected] if you plan to attend.
