In loving memory ~
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we mourn the unexpected loss of Linda Bowers. On June 7, 2023, at the age of 72, while engaged in one of her cherished pastimes, pickleball, Linda passed. The echoes of her laughter and the joy she brought to those around her now mingle with the bittersweet memories of a life well-lived.
Linda, an angel among us, was born in February 1951, in the City of Ottawa. At the age of 18, she embarked on a journey to Vancouver, where fate led her to the love of her life, John. Their love story spanned 50 years of marriage, filled with unwavering devotion and shared dreams.
Together, John and Linda nurtured their three children in Maple Ridge, cultivating a profound love and creating a haven of warmth and support. Alongside their dedication to family, they poured their hearts into their small business, Bowers Automotive Repairs, leaving an indelible mark on their community. Linda’s selflessness extended beyond her immediate circle, as she dedicated countless hours to the Whonnock Community Association.
In 1995, Linda and John sought solace in the picturesque embrace of Sproat Lake, where they discovered a paradise that mirrored the beauty of their souls. It became the cherished family home, a place where seven grandchildren were lovingly nurtured by their adoring Granny, creating memories that will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Linda’s passion for fashion bloomed as she fulfilled her lifelong dream of running her own store, Boutique Belles Amies, in Port Alberni. Through her charitable contributions, elegant dinner parties, and captivating fashion shows, she became a beacon of inspiration and left an unforgettable mark on the community. Her spirit touched the lives of all who crossed her path, leaving a legacy of kindness and compassion that will endure.
In her final years, Linda embarked on grand adventures, travelling the world alongside cherished friends and beloved family. She fearlessly pursued her bucket list, savouring every experience with unbridled enthusiasm. She took a lot of pride in her activities, a lifelong swimmer, and, most recently, the President of the Sproat Lake Community Association.
Linda’s unwavering faith in God’s blessings and her genuine ability to make everyone feel special were her superpowers. Her presence lit up any room, and those who had the privilege of calling her their wife, mother, sister, grandma, or friend are forever touched by the depth of her love and warmth. The beauty that radiated from within her is indescribable, and the void she leaves behind is immeasurable.
Linda is survived by her husband, John Bowers, her cherished daughters Erin and Heather (Connor), her beloved son Johnny, and her seven grandchildren Alexandra (Bryce), Jaxson, Allister, Ashlyn, Addison, Alyssa, and Austin. Her memory is also carried by her brother Robert (Holly) and her sister Lee.
As we navigate the depths of sorrow that Linda’s absence brings, we find solace in choosing to remember her in a way that honours her boundless spirit. A Celebration of Life, dedicated to commemorating her remarkable journey, will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the West Coast General Hospital Foundation (WCGH Foundation), an organization that held a special place in Linda’s heart during her time serving on the board (www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/49856?v2=true).
Linda’s legacy will forever reside in the hearts of those who loved her. Her vibrant spirit, unwavering love, and zest for life will continue to inspire us to embrace each day with gratitude and cherish the precious moments we share with our loved ones. May her soul find eternal peace, and may we find comfort in the beautiful memories we hold dear.
