Private family services will be held at a later date in her hometown, Canadian, Texas. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Carol Ruth Dickinson was born September 9, 1947, to Roy “Dick” and Laura Lee Dickinson in Canadian. She grew up on the Bowers Washita River Ranch in the Gem Community. Carol learned to cook at her mother’s side, feeding hungry brothers and cowboys. As a young woman she met and married Nick Hohenstreet. To that union, she was given the gift of her son, Scott. Carol married Dennis Cannady, with whom she enjoyed traveling and sharing life. She was a people person and rarely met a stranger. Her younger years helping to feed friends and family continued in her later years. Carol enjoyed taking care of her neighbors and close friends. She will be missed. Carol Ruth was preceded by her grandparents, Carl and Lena Bell Snyder and Andrew Pickens Dickinson; parents, Dick and Laura Lee Dickinson; son Scott Hohenstreet; husband Dennis Cannady; ex-husband and friend Nick Hohenstreet. Those left to cherish Carol Ruth’s memory are two brothers, Buddy Dickinson and wife Brenda, and Bob Dickinson and wife Beverly; nieces and nephews: Tim Dickinson, Kimberly Yarnold and husband Kley, Amber Baileys and husband Neil, Ty Dickinson and wife Krystal, Leslie Coffee and husband Logan, Matt Dickinson and wife Aubrey, and Bo Dickinson and wife Jessica; 18 grandnieces and nephews; a bonus son, Lee Cannady; and many heart-adopted family and friends in Missouri.
