OBITUARY: Dannie Louise Morris News Staff Thu, 11/30/2023 - 12:19 Subheader body March 10, 1930 - November 23, 2023 In-page image(s) Body Dannie Louise Welch Morris, 93, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord early Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 23, 2023, at M&S Grace Manor Adult Family Home in Bellingham, WA. Dannie was born at home to Walter Columbus and Fannie Mae Welch on March 10, 1930, in Hemphill County near Canadian, Texas. From the family home in the country, she went to Washita, Pleasant Valley, and Blue Ridge Grade Schools and then to Canadian High School where she graduated May 29, 1947, and was a member of the National Honor Society. She married Harry Keith Morris on June 10, 1948, in Canadian. To this union were born three children, Harry Keith, Jr., Phyllis Elaine, and Rebecca Eloise. She accompanied Harry as he attended Baylor University and at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where she also attended classes. Dannie served as Harry’s pastor’s wife at Lesley Baptist Church near Lakeview, Texas; Notrees Baptist Church in West Texas; and First Baptist Church, Bronte—all in Texas. She assisted Harry in serving as Director of Missions for the Brady, Coleman, and Runnels Baptist Associations. They later answered the call of the Lord to serve as Director of Missions for the Mt. Baker Baptist Association in Washington State. At the same time, Dannie served with Harry as he pastored Trinity Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. A beautiful Northwestern rainbow that appeared shortly after their arrival in Mount Vernon seemed to them a sign of confirmation of their call from the Lord. They served in this capacity for 13 ½ years until retirement in 1992. Though limited in ability to attend regularly, Dannie remained a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church until her death. Dannie was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and three sisters. She was also preceded in death by her husband Harry Keith Morris, Sr., and one daughter Rebecca Eloise Morris Gragg. Dannie is survived by her son, Harry Keith Morris, Jr. (wife Mixy), living in Spain; her daughter, Phyllis Elaine Morris Middleton of Renton, WA; six grandchildren: Genesis, Michael, and Hannah Morris, working and studying in Chicago; Jared Gragg (wife Hollie) Virginia, Colton Gragg (wife Betsy) Abilene, Texas, and Parker Gragg (wife Mindy) Dallas. Great grandchildren are Emma Claire Gragg, Abigail Rebecca Gragg, Samson James Gragg, Jericho Gragg, Shiphrah and Esther Gragg (twins), Berea Gragg, Boaz Keith Gragg, Nora Gragg, Larkin Dean Gragg, and Roby Stewart Gragg. There are also many nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. The family requests in lieu of flowers please send direct memorial gifts to the Southern Baptist Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions or the Gideons International.
