It is with great sadness and with her friends by her side that we said goodbye to Penny Roy, on August 15th, 2024.
Penny was born in Doaktown, NB on December 13th, 1954, to the late Edward and Annie (Somerville) Robb.
Penny was a free spirit and loved to laugh and joke with her family and friends. She was best remembered for her strength and determination in everything she did in life.
Penny left Doaktown, NB, as a teenager and finished High School in Newfoundland. From there she married and had a son David whom she loved very much. Penny would later move to the North where she lived her best life making many amazing friends along the way. Her stories of Hay River and Watson Lake were beautiful and full of life. Penny loved to cook, she worked in many camps and kitchens as a cook/chef. She loved to cook especially for her friends and family, and up until she left us she was still doing what she loved best cooking for friends and family.
Penny is survived by her younger sister Libby (Ontario) and her beloved son David. Penny will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews (Ontario & NB), great nieces and nephews, and her great great nephew.
Penny was predeceased by her sisters Laura Beth, Sandra Anne, her brothers William, Ronnie, Norman, and her nephew Matthew.
There was a Celebration of Life held for Penny in Watson Lake, by closest friends and loved ones before Penny’s passing which she absolutely loved and enjoyed. Penny will always be remembered for her fullness and appreciation of life and living by her own terms and at her own will. Penny’s sense of humor was huge and bright, right up until her final hours.
Penny once said ” I am a Robb woman strong and fierce, I will face what is to come head on with no regrets “
