Gerald Albert Shires

Gerald (Gerry) Albert Shires passed away peacefully Saturday, November 18, 2023, aged 82 years.
Predeceased by wife Rosemary Elaine Shires his parents, Agnes and Robert Shires, in-laws Rosemary and Robert Riglar.
Gerry is survived by his brother Robert (Lucille) Shires, son Kevin (Lori) Shires, daughter Nicole (Bruce) Adams; grandchildren Corey (Candice) Shires, Emily Shires, Neil (Charlie) Adams, Kevin Adams and Cindy (Matt) Bird; great-grandchildren; Allison Adams, Ebony and Easton Bird; long time companion, Sharon Jenks; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews in British Columbia.
Gerry was born in Lamont, Alberta on October 22, 1941. Gerry was active in the Nanaimo lacrosse community for over 70 years. His greatest passions were spending time at the lacrosse arena, hockey rink, soccer field, baseball field and swimming pool to watch his children and grandchildren.
Gerry will be remembered by his infectious smile and generous heart. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the Pleasant Valley Hall from 1pm to 3pm, 6100 Dumont Road, Nanaimo, BC.
