Janice Ayre Jackson (née Morin) of Whitehorse, Yukon passed away on June 23, 2024 at Whitehorse General Hospital.
She was born on May 23, 1948, to Jack and Bette Morin in North Bay, Ontario. Janice was raised in Deep River, Ontario and graduated in 1969 from Hamilton Civic Hospitals School of Nursing.
Janice moved to the Yukon to work as a nurse in Faro. She met her future husband Rick at a dance in the early seventies. They moved to Whitehorse and were married on one of the coldest days in December 1977. Janice and Rick had three daughters who she stayed home with and raised, rejoining the workforce as a salesclerk at a few local businesses once they started school.
Over the years Janice enjoyed square dancing, camping, fishing, travelling to visit family and friends around the country, attending events at the local museum, and playing cards.
Janice leaves behind her loving husband of 47 years Rick Jackson, daughters Lisa (Jayson), Carrie (Dan), and Aline (Todd), brothers John (Barb), and Chris, and much loved grandchildren Alexis, Abby, Emma, and Logan.
Janice is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Bette, and her brother Gerry.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lambert, Dr. Avery, and the many nurses that helped care for her in her final days. Rick and the girls would also like to thank all the friends and family for their support during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for next year.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
