OBITUARY: EUGENE PETER LAWRYK News Staff Sat, 02/01/2025 - 14:56 Subheader body February 14, 1954 — January 28, 2025 In-page image(s) X Small Image Body Eugene Peter Lawryk, 70 of Balko, Oklahoma stepped into his heavenly home on January 28, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.Cremation Memorial Services will be held at 11 am on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Darrouzett Cemetery in Lipscomb County with Deacon Sergio Estrada, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Perryton, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.Eugene was born February 14, 1954, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Zachary and Theresa Lawryk. The family moved to Bell, California in 1956. Eugene attended school and graduated from Bell High School. He then went to The University of Southern California where he played football. Gene was a team member of four winning seasons and played in four Rose Bowl Championship games, USC won all four games. After graduating from USC, he moved to Colorado and attended post graduate studies in Public Utilities. Gene was licensed in operations of water and wastewater treatment systems. While in Colorado he met the love of his life, Patricia. They were married and lived in several states while moving with work. When health challenges for Gene arose, they settled in the Balko, Oklahoma area to be closer to specialized medical treatment. After moving to Balko, Gene’s health improved. He enjoyed working on the farm. Gene loved his horse and dogs. Being a skilled mechanic, he enjoyed working on his collection of old trucks and 4-wheelers. He also enjoyed watching old movies. Gene was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Perryton.He is preceded in death by his father, Zachary Lawryk and his cousin, Pete Montson.Those left to celebrate Gene’s memory are his wife, Patricia of Balko; his mother, Theresa Josephine Lawryk of LaPalma, California; a brother, Paul Lawryk of San Jose, California; and a sister, Mary Ann Lawryk of LaPalma, California.
