Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.Randy Porter was born July 28, 1962, in Perryton to Donald Porter and Martha Bernell Freeman. He graduated from Perryton High School with the class of 1981. Randy retired from the Colorado Penal System after 22 years of service; he enjoyed living in Colorado. Randy loved spending time with his daughter, Brandi and granddaughter Kaia. Kaia wanted her granddad to have a special name, she called him Blue, because she loved Blue from Jurassic Park. Brandi said her dad had an amazing sense of humor and was always cracking jokes; her favorite childhood memory with her dad was camping and fishing at Lake Fryer. Randy had been living in the Canadian area for the last three years. He enjoyed fishing the Duck Ponds and was an avid fisherman. During his time in Canadian he enjoyed getting to know Ronnie and Libby’s children and grandchildren. Randy had a big heart for his family and friends.Randy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nelson and Sible Freeman; father, Donald Richard Porter; and a brother, Ricky Porter.Those left to share Randy’s memory are his daughter, Brandi Craner and fiancé James Pletsch of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a granddaughter, Kaia Craner; his mother, Martha Freeman of Turpin, Oklahoma; his bonus dad, Roger Ogburn and wife Jan of Canadian; a brother, Ronnie Porter and wife Libby of Canadian; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.Memorials may be given to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S. 4th St., Canadian, TX 79014.
