McDonald, 87, of Canadian, stepped into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, May 5, 2024, in Canadian, Texas. Raymond Harold McDonald was born November 1, 1936, in Fort Worth to Fredie and Ena McDonald. His mother, Fredie Estes McDonald was half-Cherokee. Her mother was on the Trail of Tears into the Indian Territory, in what is now Oklahoma. Raymond served in Korea with the United States Army. Following his return to the states he married Linda Spence in 1959. They were married 53 years. While living in Arkansas, Raymond did heat and air work for Sam Walton, later obtaining his Realtors license. Raymond and Linda settled in Canadian in 2008. He drove a truck and went to the border to build the border fence. Raymond loved gardening and playing with the pups. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Fredie and Ena McDonald; wife, Linda Spence McDonald; son Jackie McDonald; mother and father-in-law Mary Rachel and Donald Spence; and siblings, Neal McDonald, Milton McDonald, Fred McDonald, Docia McDonald and Wayne McDonald. Those left to cherish Raymond’s memory are four children: LeAnn Flynn and husband Mike of Canadian; Steve McDonald of Billings, Montana; Shelly Richardson and husband Keith of Gonzales; and Scott McDonald and wife April of Lampasas; nine grandchildren: Crissy Flynn Waugh and husband James of Amarillo; Bradley Michael Flynn and wife Kellye of Canadian; Jordon Jones and wife Natalie of California; Kara DelBosque and husband Justin of Georgetown; Jacob McDonald and Caleb McDonald both of Billings, Montana; Addison McDonald of College Station; Reagan McDonald of Lampasas; and Kelsi Cook of Wheeler; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, Don R. Spence and Tony Spence. Memorial services will be held at a future date at the Church of Christ in Durham, Oklahoma. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.
