OBITUARY: RICHARD GAYLORD FARQUER News Staff Fri, 12/13/2024 - 09:35 Subheader body May 27, 1943 — December 12, 2024 In-page image(s) X Small Image Body Richard Gaylord Farquer, 81, of Canadian, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024 in Canadian.Services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, December 14, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Chapel in Canadian with Charley Marsh officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.Richard was born May 27, 1943 in Alva, Oklahoma, to Gaylord William and Florence Belle Walls Farquer. He graduated from Waynoka High School and went on to Southwest Radio and TV repair school in 1962 and received his certification. Richard moved to Canadian in 1967 and went to work for Canadian Mill Works for 13 years. In 1980, he started working at Canadian Redi Mix, then worked 8 years for Canadian Feedyard. He would later start working at Oasis Truck Stop and worked there for 18 years before he retired. On November 23, 1974, he married the love of his life, Brenda Mitchell Wayne, in Canadian. They celebrated 48 years of marriage before she passed on February 7, 2023. Richard was raised in the Church of God Church and when he moved to Canadian, he was a long-time member of Church of Christ of Canadian. He had many hobbies that include woodworking, attending rodeos, and making Gramps’ caramel corn with Brenda for decades. Richard also enjoyed old westerns, game shows, listening to classic country music, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. His greatest enjoyment by far was his grandkids.He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Brenda; grandchildren, Kami Minick, B.J. Minick, and Billy Wayne.Survivors include his children, Karen Voorhees and husband Barry of Canadian, Terry Wayne of Pampa, Jerry Wayne of Canadian, and Rikki Farquer of Amarillo; grandchildren, Johnathen Wayne, Jason Wayne, Steven Wayne, Alli Wayne, Bruce Wayne, Daniel Wayne, and Abbi Voorhees; siblings, Sharon Barnes of Waynoka, Oklahoma and Ladon Bullock of San Springs, Oklahoma.
