Sonny Chu

It is with sorrow that the family of Sonny Chu announce that he peacefully passed away on October 4, 2024, in Whitehorse, Yukon at the age of 76.

Sonny was born in Taishan, Guangdong, China. He immigrated to Whitehorse in 1975, where he spent the rest of his life, making great friends along the way. Him and his wife Kathy were the proprietors of the China Garden Restaurant, and happily served authentic Cantonese Chinese food to Yukoners for over 30 years.

Sonny was an avid hunter and fisherman; he enjoyed exploring the great outdoors with his good friends and catching some bear or moose along the way.

Sonny is survived by his wife, two sons, two goddaughters, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 10:30am at Heritage North Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grey Mountain Cemetery.
