Salamino Barclay McWhorter was born January 29, 1940, to Dominick and Rose Salamino in Lenox, New York. She grew up and went to school in Canastota, New York. Virginia passed from her earthly life on November 23, 2024, at her home in Higgins, Texas.After leaving New York, Virginia married Joe Barclay and made her home in Borger and Fritch. While living there she worked in the billing and accounting office of the Borger Hospital and helped Joe in his auto rebuilding business. She also traveled with the band that Joe played in and became acquainted with all the band members. After Joe’s passing Virginia married Frankie McWhorter on December 30, 1989. She continued to follow Frankie with his bands and cooked and fed the cowboys that helped Frankie on the Gray/Abraham ranch. After Frankie’s retirement they bought their home in Higgins.Virginia was active in the Eastern Star. She had many interests besides music, she loved cooking, sewing and crocheting and going to the casino. Her love for cooking shone at Perks Convenience Store for many years until its closing. She was well known for her spunk, where some thought she was a mean little lady. She had her way of doing things and wanted it her way. Her last request was for Lovella to take her to the casino, but due to illness she was not able to go. She would always tell Lovella if she didn’t take her, she would call Quentin because he would take her.Virginia lived a good life and lived it her way.Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and her husbands, Joe Barclay and Frankie McWhorter, stepson Larry McWhorter and step-grandson Heath Bishop.She left behind her stepson Sammy McWhorter and stepdaughter Denise Lackey. Her care givers and special friend, Lovella Booth, Jennifer Detrixhe, Trish Booth and Claudene Simpson and many other relatives and friends.In lieu of flowers please make donations to your favorite Charity, Church, or Local EMS/Fire Department in care of Shaw Funeral Home, P.O.
