Graveside services will be 10 am, Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Matt Cook, officiating. Services are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Joy Reece Vanhooser was born October 3, 1928, in Bryson to Granville and Mattie Vanhooser. He graduated from Bryson, TX. Joy married Karline Habekott, they had three girls that he loved and adored. With his strong work ethic Joy worked his way up in the oilfield to superintendent for Moran Brothers. He was a man to stay busy gardening and caring for their home and property. Joy was a Dallas Cowboy and San Antonio Spurs fan and enjoyed watching their games. He was preceded in death by his parents, Granville and Mattie Vanhooser and a sister, Nomi Evett. Those left to carry Joy’s memory are his wife, Karline Vanhooser of the home; three daughters, Melinda Hocking and husband Ron of Allen, TX, Tonya Bennett and husband Joe Bob of Amarillo, and Adrienne Rocholl and husband Dustin of Wylie, TX; seven grandchildren, Cole Knight of Amarillo, Kaylee Knight of Amarillo, Grace Hocking of Austin, Tate Bennett and wife McKenzie of Amarillo, Hillary Lewia and husband Stephen of Wichita, KS, Holly Bennett of Marland, OK, and Katie Bennett of Oklahoma City, OK; and a nephew, Terry Evett of Wichita Falls.
