Lee “Jim” Cameron, 92, of Glazier, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025 in Amarillo.

Services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at The River Ministries, with Pastor Donald Hill and Pastor Andy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Lipscomb Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Jim was born June 11, 1932 in Ochiltree County to Joe and Thelma Taylor Cameron. He attended elementary school at McMillion School, just south of Perryton. Jim attended junior high school and high school at Perryton and graduated from Perryton High School in 1949. He attended West Texas State University in Canyon for a short time before he was drafted into the US Army. Jim served two years and then served four years in the Reserves. He served our country faithfully and was honorably discharged in 1962.

Jim married Kay Bussard, from Higgins, after he was discharged from the military. They have been married over 53 years and raised two boys, James Clay and Lee Taylor Cameron. Jim was proud of his boys; he attended all their sporting activities as they grew up and celebrated all their accomplishments with them. Jim was a farmer and always had cattle. His land was spread between Ochiltree County and Lipscomb County. In 1982, Jim opened the County Line Store, he operated it for 41 years, making many friends and memories along the way. Jim never met a stranger.

Jim was always a straight shooter, and he expected the same in return. Sometimes his honesty might hurt feelings, but you always knew where you stood with Jim. He was a great storyteller, and he had many to share. Jim was known as “PePaw” to his grandchildren and loved them dearly. He was proud of his oldest grandson, Jett, for enlisting with the US Marine Corp. Jim’s last trip that he was able to take was to California to watch him graduate from boot camp. He enjoyed watching Katy and was proud of how she handled all of her horses. Jim always called her “my girl” every time he saw her.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sister June Crum; and a nephew Terry Crum.

Survivors include his wife, Kay of the home; son Clay Cameron and wife Sky of Shattuck, Oklahoma and Taylor Cameron and wife Jamie of Hydro, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Lance Corporal Jett Cameron, Katy Cameron, Ella Howard, Connor Howard, Alex Calloway, and Keaton Dodd; niece, Jan Crum Smith and husband Tex; nephew, Tim Crum; and a great niece, Joni Paul Harkins and husband Chris.

Jim spent the last few years at Ussery Roan Texas State Veterans Home in Amarillo where he met and made friends with the residents and staff. A special thank you to all the staff for the love and care they gave Jim.
