Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Leon was born on March 28, 1952 in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Lester Leon Williams and Erma Oressa Trout Williams. Leon attended school in Hobbs and later earned his GED. On August 24, 1974, he married the love of his life, Shelia Gregory, at the First Baptist Church in Miami. In 1976, Leon and Shelia made Miami their home and have resided there ever since. He was a member of the First Christian Church.Leon worked as a plant mechanic for Pioneer Oil and Gas for almost 30 years until his retirement. He often volunteered his skills as a mechanic, servicing the trucks for the Miami-Roberts County Volunteer Fire Department. Leon enjoyed golfing, fishing, restoring classic cars, and riding his Harley. He also enjoyed cooking out with his family. Leon loved his family deeply. When asked about his greatest accomplishments, Leon mentioned his marriage with Shelia, his two beautiful daughters, his four wonderful grandchildren, and his three great-grandchildren.Leon’s favorite memories were of teaching his daughters and grandchildren how to work on and repair almost anything. He thought it was important to share his knowledge and wisdom whenever he could. Leon believed that by keeping his faith in the good Lord everything would turn out alright. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Erma Williams; and one half-brother, Neil Williams.He is survived by his wife, Shelia Williams of the home; two daughters, Leslie Espinosa and Shanna Flanagan both of Miami; four grandchildren, Angelica Espinosa and fiancé Emmanuel Aguilar, Thomas Espinosa, Maci Flanagan, and Riley Flanagan and partner Makaila Pond all of Miami; three great-grandchildren, Elijah Aguilar, Amara Aguilar, and Zariah Aguilar; two sisters, Gwendylon Claybrook and husband Tommy, and Becky Holmes; one half-brother, Dickie Wallace; one brother-in-law, Tommy Gregory and wife Stacy; and two sisters-in-law, Belinda Ellison and husband Allen and Toni Coombs and husband James.Memorials may be sent to the Miami-Roberts County Volunteer Fire Department, 214 N Main St, Miami, Texas, 79059.
