She passed away on June 21, 2024, in Frisco at the age of 81.Growing up, Deloris excelled in sports and achieved All-State honors in Basketball during high school. She was recognized for her speech skill and loved drama class. Deloris had built-in playmates her whole life, including her three sisters and one brother. The siblings loved playing together and worked hard to support themselves.Deloris graduated from Canadian High School and went on to obtain her master’s degree in Special Education from West Texas State University. She became a dedicated Speech Pathologist for Elmore City School and eventually retired as the Director of Special Education. Deloris was married to Jim Stout on July 22, 1966, in Tulia, and they remained married until his passing.Deloris was a devout Christian woman and attended the First Baptist Church in Elmore City, Oklahoma, where she volunteered in many roles. She was a Bible study teacher, a Sunday school teacher, a GA leader, Acteen Leader, and was often known as “The Shower Lady.” Deloris loved reading, fishing, cattle, horses, cooking, and doing things for others. She was even featured on HGTV for her cakes, but her greatest joy was teaching others and advocating for the underdog while leading people to Christ.Deloris always taught others to do the best they could with what God has given them, emphasizing that everyone is important, and we must care for those who can’t always care for themselves. She made a significant impact on many lives and would have wished for everyone to know Christ, think of others, and volunteer their time. Deloris will be deeply missed by all who loved her.Deloris is survived by her son Paul Stout and wife Marsha; daughter Cynthia Brannies and husband Bryan; brother James Batts and wife Sandy; sister Glenda Day and husband Bill; grandchildren: Cierra Merrill and husband Andrew, Brittany and husband Time Hamel, Cade Stout, Caleb Stout, Andrea Tharp and husband Coty; and great-grandchildren: Isaiah Hamel, Mavis Hamel, Ryleigh Tharp, and Ledger Tharp.Deloris is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Stout; parents Roger Batts and Gladys Hogan Batts; and sisters Cora Shaw and Marie Davis.Graveside services for Deloris will be Wednesday, June 26, at 10 am, at the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 25, from 9 am – 4:30 pm at Wooster Funeral Home in Elmore City, Oklahoma. Deloris Faye (Batts) Stout was born on February 8, 1943, in Tucumcari, New Mexico, to Roger Batts and Gladys Hogan Batts. She passed away on June 21, 2024, in Frisco at the age of 81.
