OBITUARY: BARBARA GAIL FRY News Staff Sun, 12/29/2024 - 11:00 Subheader body September 18, 1957 — December 26, 2024 In-page image(s) X Small Image Body Barbara Gail Fry, 67, of Lipscomb, Texas stepped into the arms of Jesus with her heavenly greeting party awaiting on Thursday, December 26, 2024, in Canadian, Texas, with her family and friends by her side. Celebration of Life services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, December 31, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home Chapel in Canadian with Gary Jahnel and Kyle Jahnel officiating. Burial will follow in Lipscomb Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Family visitation will be held from 6-7 pm on Monday, December 30, at the funeral home. The family encourages guests to bring their quilts and tell the stories behind them. Barbara was born September 18, 1957, in Canadian, to Russell Lloyd and Mary Gail (Haines) Fry. She graduated from Canadian High School with the class of 1976. Barbara worked for USDA-Farm Service Agency as a clerk for many years, but her real love was sewing. Barbara was an avid quilter. She dedicated her time and talent to each quilt she crafted, making them unique and special, paying extra attention to details. Over the years, she gifted many of her quilts to her friends and family with love. Barbara was an animal lover of all kinds. She would take in animals and nurture them to good health. Barbara was the unofficial animal rescue in Lipscomb. She loved her family, friends and pets dearly.She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Mary Fry; and a brother, Jim Fry.Survivors include her two daughters, Jessica Russell (Justin) of Lipscomb and Katie Herrera (Abraham) of Canadian; three grandchildren, Taylor Russell (Adree) and Loclynne Russell all of Lipscomb, and Lextynn Herrera of Canadian; three bonus grandchildren, Lori Herrera, Myra Herrera, and Marcus Herrera all of Canadian; one great-grandson, Brand Russell of Lipscomb; and numerous friends, including her best friend since 5th grade, Possum Jahnel.
