Born on February 14, 1936, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, to James and Margaret Giles, she was blessed to grow up in a Christian home.Memorial service for Pat is Friday, January 3, 2025, at 10 am at Temple Baptist Church with her niece Sherye Talley officiating. Visitation is Thursday, January 2, from 5 to 7 pm at Rector Funeral Home.Pat moved with her family to Amarillo when she was seven years old. She developed a love of singing as she sang alongside her mother and sister at First Assembly of God Church. The Giles Trio performed on a local radio show after church on many Sundays. She was a church soloist from her teen years until her mid-eighties and enjoyed singing in the church choir.Pat was a proud graduate of Amarillo High School's class of 1954. She met her future husband, Ross Howe at church. He was stationed at the Amarillo Air Force Base and he and some buddies attended church one evening and a love story was born. They married on June 29, 1953, and made their first home in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where they were stationed. They lived for a while in Amarillo after his discharge then moved to his hometown in upstate New York. After four years in New York, they returned to Amarillo, and in 1966, they moved to Canadian, where they made their home for over 30 years, returning to Amarillo in 2004. Pat accepted Jesus as her Savior as a young child and grew up attending First Assembly of God Church in Amarillo. In later years she joined First Baptist Church of Canadian, and at the time of her death was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Amarillo. She was a member of the IOOF Rebekah Lodge in Canadian.Pat’s hobbies included cross-stitching, working on puzzle books, and playing games on her phone, which kept her mind sharp and her spirit playful. She never lost her love for conversation and could often be found chatting with friends, family, and even strangers, embodying her belief that no one should remain a stranger for long.Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ross Gerald Howe, in 2009; her parents, James and Margaret Giles; her brother, James Giles; her sister, Betty Talley; and her granddaughter, Karen Howe. Her legacy continues through her loving family, including her son Stanley Howe and his wife Linda of Yorktown, Indiana; daughters Janet Howe of Amarillo, and Sandy Howe of Canadian; her son Kevin Howe of Newark, Texas; and her grandchildren, Chris Howe of Zionsville, Indiana; April Metcalf of Yucaipa, California; Joshua Howe and Willanna Howe, both of Yorktown, Indiana; along with five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Temple Baptist Church Singing Men Mission Fund, 3208 S.
