OBITUARY: CHRISTOPHER ROBERT SORRELL News Staff Tue, 09/10/2024 - 11:54 Subheader body December 25, 1976 — September 3, 2024 In-page image(s) X Small Image Body Christopher Robert Sorrell, 47, of Pampa, passed away on September 3, 2024 in Amarillo.Memorial services will be 2 pm on Saturday, October 5, at First Methodist Church of Pampa with Rev. Jarrod Neal officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 4, from 6-7:30 pm. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.Chris was born December 25, 1976, in Wheeler to Melba and Robert Sorrell. He attended schools in Canadian where he was active in the high school band and showing pigs and lambs with 4H. After high school, he was diagnosed with cancer. For the next few years, he battled his cancer at MD Anderson and beat it. When he returned to the Panhandle, he enrolled at Amarillo College to obtain his degree as a machinist. While he was attending school, he worked odd jobs as a carpenter, electrician, and plumber. In 2006, he moved to Pampa and started working for SWM. Chris worked there for 16 years. He shared his knowledge of machining with many coworkers and spending many hours working overtime and holidays with what would become his work family. Due to his cancer returning, he was unable to work. Chris married Staci Jo Grimes in 2008 in Pampa. Together they had their daughter, Maddison. He was a hard worker, and made it his mission to provide for his family to the best of his ability. When he wasn’t working, he loved hunting, fishing, camping, and reloading ammunition. Chris also enjoyed building r/c semi-trucks, boats, cranes, and airplanes from scratch. His attention to details never went unnoticed. Chris had a big heart and loved his family very much. His quick wit was unique and always a good laugh at family gatherings. His occasional get togethers with his brother and few cousins were memorable as he took the time to teach his perfection in almost everything he did. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Stella Mae Lankford and Althea Guist.Survivors include his daughter, Maddison Grace Sorrell of White Deer; mother, Melba Norris of Pampa; sister Heather Jones and husband David of Claremore, Oklahoma; brother, Stephen Sorrell and wife Jennifer of Amarillo; wife, Staci Jo Sorrell of Pampa; father, Robert Sorrell of Dripping Springs; nieces, Kayla Wolfe, Julie Jones, Stella Sorrell, Scarlett Sorrell; nephews, Dean Sorrell and Dylan Sorrell.Memorials can be sent to BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 5211 SW 9th Ave Suite 100, Amarillo, TX 79106. Christopher Robert Sorrell, 47, of Pampa, passed away on September 3, 2024 in Amarillo.
