Beth will be available for viewing from 10 am to 8 pm, Tuesday, June 25, with a visitation from 5 to 7 pm at Vega Methodist Church, 208 North 9th Street. Services will be at 10 am, Wednesday, June 26, at the Vega Methodist Church, with Roger Morris and Guy Walker of Barn Church officiating. The burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Vega, Texas.Beth was born on April 16, 1931, to Allen and Mona Beene, in Hemphill County. Her family moved from Allison in 1936 during the depression, to Amarillo where her father started a neighborhood grocery store in the Glenwood area. Beth started school in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1949. She began her college career at Texas Women’s University in Denton, and after one year, she transferred to West Texas State University and was involved in the West Texas State University choir and graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. She then began her teaching career in Vega as the high school business teacher. In Vega she met the love of her life and on November 17, 1957, she married Roger L. Morris, Jr. They were happily married for 32 years. Beth devoted her life to her marriage and her family while staying home with her young children. In 1973, she returned to teaching at Vega Elementary. She taught for 35 years and retired when she was 70 years old. She was a follower of Christ and an active member of the Vega Methodist Church and the Golden Buff Alumni Association. She volunteered with the local Food Pantry and enjoyed the Meet and Eat Club each month as well as assisted with many funeral dinners over the years. She took great delight supporting her grandchildren, traveling to watch them compete in various sports and ag activities. Beth was preceded in death by her husband Roger L. Morris Jr; her parents, Mona and Allen Beene; brothers Jack, Ben, Teddy Beene and sister Nell Wilson.She is survived by her daughter, Tanya Morris Holloway (husband Andrew) of Canadian; her son, Roger L. Morris III (wife Mary Ann) of Vega; three grandsons: Tarlton Holloway of Amarillo, Roger “Chip” L. Morris IV (wife Lauren) and Reese Morris (wife Katherine) of Vega; four great-grandchildren: Rhett, Sutton, Ruby and Riggs Morris, all of Vega.The family suggests memorials to: Bill & Roger Ministries, PO Box 50, Vega, TX 79092, Memorial Park Cemetery, PO Box 496, Vega, TX 79092, or to Vega Methodist Church, PO Box 182, Vega, TX 79092.
