She passed from this life July 7, 2024, in Abilene, Texas.A service will be held at a later date.Monica attended grade school in Lipscomb, Texas, and junior high and high school in Canadian, graduating with the Class of 1973. She majored in biology and minored in chemistry at the University of Texas at El Paso, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in medical laboratory at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas. Monica worked at Presbyterian Hospital in the lab department and later sold medical instruments to labs and clinics while living in the Dallas area. After retirement, she moved to Brownwood, Texas, to be a caregiver for her parents.Monica liked to travel and was able to go to several exciting places.She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Betty Beard; and cousins, Don David and David Mayfield.Survivors include cousins, Oather Mayfield, Guy Mayfield, and Mark Mayfield, all of Missouri, Anthony Beard of Minnesota, and Michael Beard of South Carolina; an aunt, Ann Beard of Minnesota; her fur baby cat, Aiden; along with many friends.Her family and friends would like to say thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene; and to Sunni at Chatfield Assisted Living in Brownwood.Memorials may be made to Wolf Creek Heritage Museum, PO Box 5, Lipscomb, TX 79056; or a favorite charity.
