Raised in PEI Ruth married Ralph in a double wedding were two sisters married two brothers 67 years ago. After the honeymoon Mom and Dad headed to the Yukon. Mom was a homemaker for many years but started working when her children were older. Her first and only job in the Yukon was at the Edgewater Hotel where she worked for over 20 years. Mom loved this job and greeted everyone like they were family.
Although Mom suffered the last 7 years with a rare disease she continued to fight for a normal life. Sadly, when she broke her femur, the disease took hold. She continued to fight hard everyday to be with her husband and children. Family meant everything to Mom and everyone who knew her knew this to be true. Everyone will remember Mom’s kindness, love of life, incredible smile, and in later years her “thumbs up”.
A celebration of life will be held on September 1, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heath Cathedral located at 406 Steel Street.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Line of Life Yukon – 867-667-6945.
Thank you all for loving our mother, she will truly be missed but we take comfort in knowing that mom will be talking, laughing, dancing and having fun with loved ones.
