Doreen (Robertson) Grounds

Doreen (Robertson) Grounds passed away on June 11, 2023, and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Doreen was born in Cumberland, B.C., on March 8, 1927, and moved to Nanaimo to start their family. Doreen and Fred had 4 boys. Doreen was a homemaker until she started working at Thom’s Fashions in Harbour Park Mall, where she quickly became store manager. Doreen enjoyed her work and especially enjoyed meeting and serving her customers.
In 1984, Doreen and Fred retired and moved to Gabriola. She loved tending to her flower garden and baking, and she could be found most nights on the couch with her crochet hook and yarn while Fred watched his sports. Doreen would graciously host family and friends on weekends and summers at their house on Gab. She was most happy hosting her grandchildren for weekends and summers either in the spare room or “camping” in the tent trailer in their yard.
Doreen and Fred enjoyed many years, travelling all over the world. She was full of life and laughter and was the best gramma a person could ask for.
Doreen was predeceased by her husband Fred, sons Gordon and Leigh, and will be missed by sons Allen (Pat) and Ken (Anne), her 8 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
