In Loving Memory ~
It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to our “Papa”.
Gerald was born in Calgary, Alberta to Gowin & Wenona Moxley. He was not very interested in school, so he started driving a truck at age 15 (no license), in downtown Calgary. After various moves, his family settled on the Lassiter Project – a farm north of Belloy, Alberta.
In 1957 he went to the School of Agriculture in Fairview, Alberta. He had to drive on the frozen Peace River to go home in the winter, which didn’t faze him.
In 1959 he married Beverly Fowler from Wanham, Alberta and with the rest of the Moxley family moved to Nanaimo, where an aunt & uncle lived. He & his dad started a trucking company – G.L. Moxley & Son, moved to Cassidy and drove until he retired in 2003.
He and mom then spent many winters in Arizona, golfing & making new friends.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beverly, son – Jody, daughter – Shelley (Brian Doering) & son – Patrick (Robin). Also 4 grandchildren, Karla (Mike Schott), Ryan (Ashley), Clinton & Kyle Doering. He was Papa to 3 beautiful great-granddaughters – Ashlyn and Lainey Schott, and Kyla Moxley.
He was predeceased by his mother, father, and sister Juanita. He has a large family of living relatives.
Our Dad was a loving, hard-working man but also liked his fun, which included a good, friendly argument on any topic. As a friend just said, “he was a good man”.
No service at his request.
