Jacob Pater

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jacob Pater on November 20th, 2023, with family by his side.
Born in Port Alberni on September 25, 1954, Jacob spent the majority of his life living and working in the Valley he called home. He will be fondly remembered for his deep faith, love for his family, and commitment to an honest day’s work.
Jake was a generous soul with a robust work ethic, always willing to lend a helping hand or take time for a conversation. His true happiness was found when he had a project to tackle, demonstrating his unwavering dedication and enthusiasm for hard work.
Jacob is preceded in death by his parents, Peterje and Maarten Pater, sister Greta Dekens, and brother Nelis Pater.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Enid, his daughters Rhonda Varga (Joe), Angela Vandermey (Vince), and Sarah Ethier (Tom), along with 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Jacob is also survived by his brothers Richard Pater, Alan Pater, and Martin Pater.
During this time of mourning, we remember Jacob for his kindness, work ethic, and the love and time he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
A service will be held on December 2nd, 2023, at The Christian Reformed Church at 5033 Roger St, Port Alberni at 1:00 pm.
