Laura Joyce Bailey

We are heartbroken to share the passing of our beautiful and adventurous daughter and sister Laura.

Laura will be forever loved and missed by her mother, Edna Hartery (Gander, NL); her older brother Gregory Bailey and sister-in-law Miranda (Jack) Bailey (Port Elgin, ON); and many aunts, uncles, relatives and friends throughout the world.

During Laura’s twenty-six years she travelled the world and lived life her way. The past three years she made her home in the Yukon where she worked as an Emergency Response Dispatcher, providing assistance to people in need. Her latest pursuit was studying to become a Registered Massage Therapist. Her love of nature brought her to many corners of the world; she travelled through most of Central America, the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, India, Alaska and beyond. She enjoyed hiking the East Coast Trail while visiting her home province of Newfoundland and Labrador, and could often be found picking bakeapples with her dog, Scout and spending her summers working on the Bonavista Peninsula.

Laura loved to immerse herself into other cultures; she had a passion for learning and her determination was unwavering. Her many talents included woodworking, carpentry, glass cutting, sewing, reading, gardening and yoga, and she excelled at everything to which she aspired.

No formal funeral or memorial will be held; Laura’s memory will be honored privately by her family. If you wish to make a donation in her memory you may do so to the Gander and Area Food Bank via https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/gander-area-food-bank-1991inc/ where she previously volunteered, the East Coast Trail via https://eastcoasttrail.com/ways-to-give/ where she spent so much time, or a charity of your choice.
