Mary Jane KARY

September 7, 1949 – June 14, 2023
Mary Jane Kary passed away on June 14, 2023, at age 73 (b. September 7, 1949), after a brief battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Dave Kary, son Brad Kary(wife Jamie and sons Connor and Calvin), daughter Nadine Kary(husband Robert), Mother-in-law Norma Kary and siblings Susan, Mark, Anita, Patricia, Janet, and Jacqueline, two half-sisters Yvonne and Melissa, and a score of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Angel, her father Bruno, her brother Bob, and two siblings who passed away during infancy.
Mary Jane was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and an active member of her Strata community.
She loved all living creatures and had a passion for photography. Mary Jane was a fervent hiker and was always exploring the great outdoors. She also had a love of art and supported the local theatre in Chemainus, B.C. Her laugh was loud and contagious. Mary Jane had a twinkle in her eye that could turn into a serious “stink eye” when needed. Her generosity knew no bounds. Mary Jane will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humour. Once, when asked by her daughter what she was looking madly for in the kitchen, she replied “a reason to live.” Even turkey vultures were loved by Mary Jane, saying about them, “They’re just trying to make a living.”
Mary Jane had a large family and group of friends who will miss her dearly as will all who knew her. Her spirit and love for life will not be forgotten. Live on Mary Jane.
