Zorka JURISIC

January 1, 1928 – June 11, 2023
Peacefully, with family at her side, Zorka passed away Sunday morning, June 11, 2023 at Wexford Creek Seniors Community in Nanaimo BC.
Zorka was born in Rastovac, a small village in former Yugoslavia. A few years after WWII ended Zorka married Mike Jurisic and in 1949 they made their way by sea from Germany to Canada, eventually settling in the Hillcrest area of Duncan BC.
Zorka had one of the toughest careers, that of a homemaker. This wonderful woman dedicated herself to her husband and the raising of their children. Zorka is survived by daughters: Mary Davis, Milly Jurisic, Angela Jurisic (Chris Little), Jackie Jurisic; grandchildren: Nathan and Clay Ehmig, and Andrea Davis; great granddaughter: Cassidy Ehmig (Curtis St.Cyr); nephew Dusan Jurisic and his family.
After Mike’s passing in 1999, Zorka moved to the gated community of Holmes Creek Estates where she made many new friends and lived for the next 20 years until a move to long term care became necessary.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Wexford Creek who treated Zorka with care, compassion and dignity through to the end.
An Interment will take place at 1:00pm on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in Cedar, BC.
Zorka found beauty in plants of all kind but especially flowers and had compassion for all creatures big and small. In remembrance of this sweet kind soul consider planting something colorful or adoption from or donation to your local animal rescue.
