In loving memory ~
It is with extreme sadness to announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend. June Palmer passed away May 20th at the age of 98. Mom was not expecting to depart as she was getting her garden planned for this season.
June was predeceased by her parents Gorden (Jack) and Elizabeth Stewart, sister Isabelle, husband John, Daughter Vivien, and son Eric. Survived by sons Jock (Carol), Rory (Andrea); daughter In law Marie Palmer; grandchildren Valda & James, Charmin & Loni, Jackson & Josh & Clinton & Clay; as well as 8 great-grandchildren.
June will be missed by the Friends and relatives that she stayed close to over the years. Also her extended family Jaideane and Jane.
June was raised near North Battleford, Saskatchewan. The family moved to Vancouver during the depression. Her father found work in the Shipyard as an Engineer. Life became comfortable. June and Isabell finished high school in North Van. Mom worked in the Commerce bank after Graduation.
Mom met and became engaged to her husband John. They were married in 1945 after Dad discharged from the Navy.
They came to Campbell River which was a small village at the time. They never lost their fond memories of the tar paper shack that they started their family in and building business which lasted 40 years.
Mom and Dad never waited for retirement to enjoy a life of World travel, camping and coastal boating on the June Wind. The family was always amazed at the energy they had to participate in any fun gathering with Friends and family.
After 51 years Mom and Dad left the original family home and built a house on the beach. They had many years of enjoyment on this property.
Mom drove and was very independent until breaking her hip. The last 2 years June resided at Yucalta Lodge. The care and love she felt was unbelievable. Thanks to the Yucalta medical (Dr. Veerapen) and the wonderful care team. You are the Best.
We were so lucky to have had you this long but it is never enough.
Love You Mom.
