In Loving Memory ~
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kimberley Charlene Whipp, our beloved mother and friend. Kimberley departed this world on Saturday, May 27th, 2023, in the comfort of her home in Port Alberni, British Columbia. She was 67 years old.
Kim was born on May 16, 1956, in Winnipeg, Manitoba to parents Kenneth and Diane. She spent her formative years in Surrey, British Columbia, and later settled in Port Alberni where she met her then husband, Alex.
She loved to care for others and earned the nick-name “Mini-Mum” as a child. Her compassionate nature led to a career in caregiving and she received her Long-Term Care Certificate at North Island College in 1981.
Through her life she dedicated herself to caring for others, both in her professional capacity and through numerous volunteer positions. Her kind heart and nurturing spirit touched the lives of countless individuals, offering support during difficult times. In addition to her dedicated work, Kim had a love for camping, baking and gardening – usually with her music on.
Her hobbies were a testament to her nurturing spirit and her ability to find joy in simple pleasures.
Predeceased by her parents, Ken and Diane; brothers Colin (Cole) and Clayton (Clay).
Kim is survived by her brother, Kyle (Kelly); children, Amber (Daniel) and Jared (Chris); step-children, Chriss and Jeremiah (Kara); grandchildren, Alexis, Tennison, James and Abby as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre.
A celebration of Kim’s life will be held at a later date. Please contact the family for details if you would like to attend.
