In loving memory ~
On June 9, 2023, we sadly bid farewell to an outstanding individual, Ajit Singh Minhas, whose generosity, love, and unwavering dedication to his family, faith, and community shone like a beacon brightening the lives of those around him.
Ajit Singh Minhas lived his life in service and heartfelt commitment to those around him. His life revolved around his beloved family and he devoted himself to ensuring their happiness and well-being.
Born in Punjab, he immigrated to Canada in 1970. He then spent many years helping others with their decisions to leave India and move to Canada. He lived in Nanaimo for over fifty years helping the local Sikh community and the community at large including the Hospital Foundation, VIU Foundation and the Cancer Society among others.
Ajit Singh Minhas lived his entire life with a commitment to caring for others. His family held the utmost importance in his heart, and he spared no effort in ensuring their well-being and happiness. His beloved wife, Balwinder Kaur, and their children, (Late) Rajvir, Gurdeep, and Satvir, were the center of his universe. He is survived by his siblings and their families, brothers: Sam, Paul and Jeet Minhas; sisters: Rani Parmar, Harjeet Loodu and Paulo Parhar.
He found joy in the simplest of pleasures, whether it was daily phone calls with family and friends, taking his evening walks, or watching his grandchildren Amira, Rohin, Aiden, Amaan, and Amaya run around the house.
In honour of Ajit’s memory, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 17 at 11 a.m. at Yates Memorial Services, 1000 Allsbrook Rd, Parksville. Final prayers will follow at the Gurdwara Miri Piri Darbar, 305 Prideaux Street. We invite all who knew and loved him to join us in celebrating his remarkable life and bidding farewell to a truly remarkable soul.
